רב אחא בריה דרבא

Entry 292 • Seder Tannaim v'Amoraim

Rab Acha, the son of Rava, in the name of the Gemara. Rashi explains that this was received from his master, and his master from his master, until R. Meir, who heard it from the name and not from his own understanding, explains the reason of R. Meir. [Yoma (33), Kiddushin (53a) Rashi explains that it is well-known among the students of the study hall].

He said to Rav Ashi [Berakhot (6a), Yoma (32b), Shabbat (93b, 146a), Eruvin (43a, Avodah Zarah (2b), Yoma (25b), Shabbat (27b, 38b), and at the end of the section of the one who brings wine, and Bava Kamma (47a, 62a), and Menachot (38b), before Rav Ashi, Avodah Zarah (33a). Amimar and Mar Zutra and Rav Ashi were sitting at a meal, and Rav Acha bar Rava was standing over them (Kiddushin 103b). He sat with Ravina before Rav Ashi and Rav Ashi gave him a knife to check, and he checked and Rav Ashi said it was proper, Chulin (17b).

In the name of Rav Yehuda, Yoma (53b), Taanit (24b). And he was meticulous about the place, and it was one since it came out from the mouth of Rav Kahana, Sukkah (32a). In the name of Rav Yosef, Pesachim (29a). And Ravina said to him, Pesachim (39a).

Ravina said to him, teach us something, etc., all roofs (93b)]. He said to Ravina, I encountered Amimar at the places and he expounded. [In the Piyun (Kiddushin 124b), the version is the son of Rav, it is a typographical error because the Tosafot in Shabbat (93a) wrote that Amimar was much later than Rava (there). And if so, how did Rav Acha bar Rava, who was an earlier authority, say to Ravina, who was also an earlier authority, I encountered Amimar at the places, and in the Shas it was not corrected.

Rab Acha, the son of Rava, in the name of R. Yanai, Zevachim (11b), and it requires investigation, perhaps it should be the son of Rav, who was an earlier authority. Rav Bibi bar Abayi said, Shabbat (4a). Mar is his son.

And Rav Shmuel of Difti argue. Rab Acha, the son of Rav, Eruvin (90b), and in the Amsterdam print, Rab Acha, the son of Rava, perhaps he is Rab Acha bar Rav mentioned earlier. And the opinion of the genealogies is that the plain Rab Acha who is with Ravina is this one.

However, above, Rab Acha bar Rav, because Rab Acha bar Rav is the plain Rab Acha who is with Ravina, and they are earlier authorities. See Chagigah 1, which was the head of the discussions for 490 years].
