**Rabbeinu Gershom, Light of the Exile** passed away in the year 4800 [(see year 4830)]. In the year 4800 Rashi was born. And Rav Hai Gaon passed away [(see year 4868)]. Rabbi Aharon bar Rabbi Moshe from the tribe of Asher [(who composed a Masorah)] and Rabbi Moshe ben David from the tribe of Naphtali [(who composed a Masorah)] who disagreed about many words in the Torah and their cantillation marks, lived in this generation [(Seder HaKabbalah, chapter 38b)].
