I saw that Daila was a student of Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Yochanan, and he was prominent in his generation. And Daila would carry on his shoulder [Niddah (24b) regarding Abba Shaul]. Rashi explains that Daila serves the sages, and some say he draws water, and Rabbi Yehuda blesses the light in his home on Motzei Shabbat. [As he lived far from him, as stated in the chapter "Eilu Devarim" (Nedarim 53b), and Rabbi Yehuda taught him in Bava Kamma (119a) and in Avodah Zarah (2:2) Rashi explains that he was a servant who was accustomed to being hired to prepare dishes.
And see Yoma (18a) whether he is a son of a butcher, Daila in the marketplace before him should not be exchanged.]
