Avtolmus [(i.e., Abtalion in the Mishnah, Chagigah 2:1, Ediyot 1:3, Pe'ah 5:6)] was the head of the court from the descendants of Sennacherib [(as stated in Gittin and Sanhedrin)]. Shmaiya, his colleague [(see there). Shimon ben Shetach and Yehuda ben Tabai were their teachers (Pirkei Avot 1:1), and the chain of tradition (Pe'ah 5:2) states they received from Yehoshua ben Perachiah and Shimon ben Shetach, meaning they did not receive from Yehoshua ben Perachiah].

Hillel and Shammai were his students. [And since they were converts, they were unable to speak the Holy Name, and they said there is no place for "hin," and they were granted permission to judge Israel to be their mother from Israel, and it is found in Rome that a decree was made in the name of Avtalion when he was an uncircumcised person (Chain of Tradition 25:2)].
