Entry 1052 • Seder Tannaim v'Amoraim

Rav HaMenuna Saba [Rav Zeira said, Rav Bar Shila said, Rav HaMenuna Saba said, Rav Ada Bar Ahava said, Rav (Ketubot 40a), and in Gittin (26b) Rav Zeira said, Rav Abba Bar Shila said, Rav HaMenuna Saba said, Rav Ada Bar Ahava said, Rav it should be Rav Bar Shila. And in Gittin (Perek 1, 2) Rav Zeira said, Rav Bar She'ilta said, Rav HaMenuna Saba said, Rav Abba, etc. Rav Zeira said to Rav, "B'Shalom," etc.

He said, "Even for me, it is difficult," and he asked them to Rav HaMenuna, and Rav HaMenuna to Rav Ada Bar Ahava, etc. Rav Chanania Bar Shalmiah and the students of Rav were sitting at a meal, and Rav HaMenuna Saba stood over them and said to them what Rav said, he said to them, "Rabbi Amram said thus said Rav," according to (Kiddushin 105a). Rav HaMenuna Saba said, Rav Yitzchak Bar Ashiyan said, Rav Huna said, Sukkah (Masechet 42a).

Rav Shmuel Bar Chatai said, Rav HaMenuna Saba (there). Rav Yitzchak Bar Ashiyan said, Rav Huna said, Rav HaMenuna said, the halacha is according to Rabbi Shimon (Gittin 39, second section). In the Zohar, Parashat Vayechi, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai says, "These Babylonians are foolish, for they do not know the praise of Rav HaMenuna Saba," and Rav HaMenuna Saba died before Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai (see there), and Rabbi Shimon wept to see him after his death.

And in the Zohar, Parashat Devarim, Rabbi Yitzchak and Rabbi Yehuda went to Kfar Sikanin where Rav HaMenuna Saba was, and his small child said wondrous secrets, see there at length. And in the Zohar, Bereshit, the son of Rav HaMenuna Saba said the secrets of the Torah to Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Abba. And Rav HaMenuna Saba and Rabbi Pinchas Ben Yair went out to accompany him when Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai died, for they had died before Rabbi Shimon (see there), and in Idra, Parashat HaAzinu, in the Sifra of the Agadah of Rav HaMenuna Saba, and in the Zohar, Parashat Va'etchanan, I found in the Sifra of Rav HaMenuna Saba.

And in Parashat Naso, Eliyahu did not come to the Idra of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai because he saved Rav HaMenuna Saba who was captured by the king. Go and see that there were two Rav HaMenuna Saba, and it is strange that they did not notice this lineage, and the author of She'arit Yosef wrote that there were two. There was a reincarnation of Moshe (see there, in the river of life, 25) and in the Valley of the King (Sotah 2a) where the soul of Yehoiada was, which was a spark of Moshe, and he was elevated to the spark of the light of the first tablets, etc., and he praised him in the Zohar, Bereshit.]
