**Antigonus** son of Aristobulus did not prolong his days on his kingdom, for Augustus king of Rome made Hordos (Herod) king. And Hordos went up with Sosios, general of the Romans, against Yerushalayim, and Hordos prevailed and killed Antigonus in the 3rd year of his reign, which was year 3724. And the kingdom of the Chashmona'im was cut off after their kingdom had stood 102 years [(see above year 3697 and 3720).

In Avodah Zarah 9 - the kingdom of the Chashmona'im ceased 102 years before the destruction of the Temple (see Tosafot Menachot 64b). And Abarbanel, Daniel, from the eye 2 palm 2, the kingdom of the Chashmona'im lasted before the destruction of the Temple 142 years. And in Avodah Zarah there it says 102 years the Chashmona'im reigned before the destruction of the Temple and 102 years the house of Hordos (and see above year 3697)].

**Hordos** (Herod) the first, the Ashkeloni, son of Antipater, whom the Romans made king [(and in Sha'ar HaDorot 24, Octavianus Caesar)] in year 3724 [(and according to Yuchsin Ma'amar 5 section 6 he reigned in year 3738)]. And he was a servant to King Hyrkanos, and Hyrkanos saved him from the death sentence of the Beit Din of Shammai and Hillel because he had killed Chizkiyah [(see Josephus section 10 chapter 44)].

And he took Miriam daughter of Alexander son of Aristobulus, the granddaughter of King Hyrkanos, as a wife. After these matters, Phigrus king of Persia took Hyrkanos out of the prison and placed him as head over all the exiles of Israel in his kingdom. And Hordos sent to Hyrkanos and spoke good things with him but in his heart he plotted evil. And the soul of Hyrkanos longed to see the Holy City and the Temple, and he believed the words of Hordos.

And afterwards Hordos killed him [(see above year 3751)]. After this, people slandered him about his wife and about his two sons, and he killed his wife Miriam daughter of Alexander son of Aristobulus, and all the Chashmona'im, and his two sons from his wife Miriam she bore to him (also the son that another wife bore him [Sha'ar HaDorot 25]). And at the beginning of his reign he afflicted the Yehudim for 3 years until they submitted to him and accepted him as king [(Tzeda).

And in Sha'ar HaDorot (25) that he killed all the Chashmona'im because he feared they would remove him from kingship, and the entire family was destroyed even though they were righteous, because they had taken the kingship which is forbidden to take except for one who is from the seed of David].

**Hordos** [is Avimelech ben Yerubaal ben Pilegesh (concubine). Just as he killed all his brothers, so Hordos killed the house of the Chashmona'im and all 408 (members). And there remained only Bava ben Buta, and the hint is 'Buta' - as if it were struck by a sword. His curse was fulfilled in Yotam, and in the Garden was Yotam and his rectification.

And just as a woman was made his slaughter and crushed his skull with a piece of millstone, so too here this was the rectification of Salkita (the woman who went up and died) to Avra. And the maidservant who remained for the Chashmona'im fell to the ground as if her skull were crushed (Bereishit sign 2). Barak and Ner came in Hordos (see above year 3636)].

**Hordos** built a place called Kafros in honor of his mother whose name was thus [(Musaf HaAruch, entry Kafros)].

**Yeshu HaNotzri** (Jesus of Nazareth) was born in year 3724 and lived until year 3792 in the cycle of 532, for every 532 years complete a great cycle and a small cycle, for 19 times 28 is 532, and 7 times 532 is year 3724, and year 3724 ends in 532 [(Tzeda chapter 2, year 3761, see there in the name of Sefer Yishen. And see above year 1460 and year 3671)].
