**In year** 5 of his reign, which was year 3647, Antiochus Pius came up against Yerushalayim [(Tzeda) and in chapter 2 it is written that Antiochus Pius reigned in year 3651)]. And Hyrkanos opened the grave of David and took from there 3,000 drachmas of gold and sent them to Antiochus so he would go from there. And he died in good old age, except that he grieved over his sons who he feared would not keep the Torah [(Yuchsin in Ma'amar 5 section 6) and I have not understood - was he then made a Tzaduki (Sadducee)].
And Antiochus sent from the siege an ox with gilded horns and a magnificent pig with a great one and a precious stone and vessels of gold and spices as an offering to HaShem of Hosts, and 200 kikar of gold he consecrated to the Temple. And Israel dwelt in the days of Yochanan very peacefully, and they multiplied and became very strong [(Tzeda)]. And he destroyed the city of Shomron (Samaria), the metropolis of the Tzadukim and the Kutim, and it took 200 years to build [(Sha'ar HaDorot 28.
And in Tzeda it is written he destroyed the temple of the Tzadukim and the Kutim that they made on Mount Gerizim, see above year 3448)]. And he made a feast for the sages [(see above year 3670)]. And there was a certain fool named Elazar Poirah [(see Kiddushin, chapter HaOmer 66)] who said to King Hyrkanos: 'The crown of kingship is sufficient for you' and they were whispering that the king is a challal (disqualified priest) because his mother was captured in Har HaModiyit.
And he became angry and killed many of the Perushim (Pharisees), and the fool Elazar he burned. And he proclaimed throughout his kingdom 'No one shall be a follower of the Tzadukim and Baitosim.' And the king grew old, and after he served as Kohen Gadol for 40 years [(and likewise in Sha'ar HaDorot, and according to Chazal in Berachot 29 two years)] he became a Tzaduki and reigned 26 years. And Josephus chapter 30 says 31 years.
And in chapter 54 it is written 21 years [(Tzeda) (and in Seder Olam Zuta, Yuchsin at the end, he reigned 37 years)].
