Rechavam died in the year 2981.
Year 2981 of the Jewish calendar.
Aviyah son of Rechavam, king of Yehuda, reigned for three years from the year 2981 [(and see Melachim 1 15 in the Radak and in Tzemach David what is written about this)], and his years were cut short [(Seder Olam)]. Azaryah was Kohen Gadol and Ido was a prophet, and he had war all his days with Yarav'am. And in Divrei HaYamim 2 chapter 12 it is written that Aviyah struck down from Israel five hundred thousand [(Tzemach David) and in Melachim 1 15:2 he is called Aviyam].
And his mother's name was Ma'achah daughter of Avishalom [(Melachim 1 15 and Divrei HaYamim 2 11), and in Divrei HaYamim 2 12:2 it says "and his mother's name was Michayahu daughter of Uriel"—she had two names, and Rashi wrote that Ma'achah daughter of Avishalom was her nickname, and see there the reason]. And he walked in the sins of his father. His burial is in the city of Rome in a pottery grave in a cave, and next to the cave is Phayzern. [See Rabbi Yosi ben Kasma (Bereishit Yosef)].
