Shlomo's throne had six steps, and all of them were studded with precious stones and white pearls and embroidered, and beautiful palm trees adorned it, and two golden stones were on both sides of the throne and they were filled with all kinds of spices. On each step there was a lion and an eagle, one on the right side and one on the left. And on the hands of the lions it was written different verses about the warnings of judgment.
And through the wheels attached behind the throne, when the king wanted to ascend, the lions would extend their hands and the eagles their wings in such a manner that the king would lean upon them and ascend. And when he had ascended all the steps, there was a silver snake there that would seat the king on the throne. And on each of the two lions on the step above there stood a marble column on their heads, and a golden dove standing between them, giving a Torah scroll onto the knees of the king.
And the lion on the left side would extend its hand and place the crown on the head of the king, and immediately the eagles would extend their wings upward above his head, making like a canopy over him. And furthermore, on each and every step, for the beauty of the throne, there were impure animals with pure animals: an ox opposite a lion, a wolf opposite a lamb, a leopard opposite a kid, a bear opposite a deer, an eagle opposite a bird.
And he would ascend between them, to hint that he made peace between them [(Seder HaKabbalah)].
