And it was at the end of two years after Abraham left the fiery furnace, that was 52 of Abraham's life [(that was 2000 years after the Garden of Eden)], and King Nimrod was sitting on the throne of the kingdom in Babel, and he slept and dreamed, and behold, he was standing with his army opposite the fiery furnace that belongs to the king, and behold, the likeness of Abraham came out of the furnace with a drawn sword in his hand and ran toward the king. The king fled and threw an egg on the king's head, and the egg became a great river and all his army drowned and they all died.
The king fled with three men. The king looked at the men and behold, they were dressed in royal garments and were in appearance and stature like the king's appearance. And it was as they fled, that river returned to be an egg as at first, and from the egg came forth a small chick and flew on the king's head and pecked out the king's eye. He awoke from his sleep and his spirit was troubled and he was very afraid.
In the morning he arose in great haste and commanded, and they brought before him all the wise men and magicians and he told them the dream. One wise man named Anuki answered: "This is nothing but the evil of Abraham and his seed that will spring up against the king," etc. "Behold, I knew this 52 years ago when your wise men saw this matter at Abraham's birth," etc. The king sent his servants secretly to go capture Abraham and bring him before him to kill him.
Eliezer, Abraham's servant whom the king had given him, was at that time before the king. He hurried and ran to Abraham before the king's servants reached Abraham and said to Abraham: "Hurry, flee for your life." Abraham hurried and ran for his life to the house of Noah and Shem his son and hid there. The king's servants came to Abraham's house and sought but did not find, and searched throughout the land but did not find, and returned to the king.
Abraham hid in Noah's house for a month of days. Terach went to see Abraham in Noah's house secretly, and Terach was great in the king's eyes. Abraham said to his father: "Do you not know that the king is plotting to kill me? Arise and let us go together to the land of Canaan lest you also perish at the end of days, for Nimrod has not given you all the honor that you have for good.
Even if he does you yet more good like this, it is nothing but the vanities of the world, for wealth and riches will not help on the day of wrath.
Therefore let us go to the land of Canaan to serve Hashem who created you," etc. Terach did so and took Abraham and Lot son of Haran and Sarai Abraham's wife and all the souls of his house, and they left Ur Kasdim from Babel and came to Haran and settled there for the land was good and spacious. People came from the men of Haran and clung to Abraham, and he taught them the ways of Hashem. He settled in Haran for three years [(Sefer HaYashar)].
