רב גידל

Rab Gidal said: The great God, who is exalted by the explicit name, Yoma [(69b)] and Sanhedrin. He sat at the gates of immersion [and said thus: "Immerse me"] and said: "Like the white excrement." Rabbi Zeira sat behind Rabbi Gidal, and Rabbi Gidal before Rabbi Huna [Berakhot (49a)]. Rabbi Zeira said: "Menaḥot (21a) and the first chapter of Beitzah." And in the Jerusalem Talmud, the first chapter of Beitzah, Rabbi Zeira in the name of Gidal. Rabbi Naḥman bar Yitzchak said: "I have taught this: Gidal is not the son of the Nasi nor the son of Menyumi, but Gidal is simply Gidal. For what practical purpose?
