Entry 806 • Seder Tannaim v'Amoraim

Rabbi Bruna said in the name of Rabbi [(Shabbat 21a, 24b, 26a)] and Rabbi Chananel, his colleague, a student of Rabbi [(Pesachim 103a)] and Rabbi Yiba, the elder, was standing over them, as stated in Yevamot (110a). Rabbi said: "Table," Rabbi Bruna said in the name of Rabbi (there) that Rabbi Bruna sat and said a teaching that Samuel said to him: Rabbi Elazar bar Bi Rav said that Samuel said thus to him: "Yes." He said: "Show me the guest of Samuel." He showed him, and he asked Samuel, and he said: "Did the master say thus?" as in Eruvin (74a).

Rabbi Elazar bar Bi Rav said that Rabbi said thus to him: "Yes." He said: "Show me the house of Rabbi," and he said: "Did the master say thus?" (there 85b). Rabbi Elazar said: "Some say that Rabbi Elai said to Ula [(when you entered there)] to ask [(is it well)] of Rabbi Bruna, his brother, for a person [(is great)] and rejoices in the commandments" [Berakhot (9b)] perhaps he is his brother or his friend and he called him brother. [Rabbi Yehuda permitted Rabbi Bruna to sell wine to an idolater (Yoma 11b).

Rabbi Bruna posed a contradiction to Rabbi Yehuda regarding the prohibition of the house of Bar Chanina: Did Samuel say thus? Eruvin (60a)].
