Rabbi Elazar from Garonya [and Rabbi Acha bar Tahlifa encountered Rabbi Acha bar Rav Ika in the place of Rabbi Acha bar Yaakov]. [Rabbi Acha bar Rav Ika wished to prepare for them a threefold calf; he brought a knife and flour for them]. Rabbi Acha bar Tahlifa said to him, "Do not be concerned about the elder." [(This refers to Rabbi Acha bar Yaakov).
Rabbi Elazar from Garonya said, "Thus said Rava, a distinguished scholar, 'One who sees himself, sees.' And I will punish Rabbi Elazar from Garonya because they began to honor him (regarding the matter that one should be concerned about the elder; he should not have belittled the matter). Rather, I will say that Rabbi Acha bar Yaakov is exceptional [(he was very much so)] as an elder and a wise man, as it is stated [(in Seder HaDorot, p. 63)].
And the lineage was not accurately transmitted]. In the order of fasts [(Taanit 24b)], Rava decreed fasts and Rabbi Elazar from Garonya dreamed a good dream and prayed, and rain came, as it was a time of favor.
