רב איקא בר אבין

Rabbi Ika bar Abin said: Rav was in need of Rav Chananel. [However, in Nedarim, the version states that Rav was in need of Rav Abba in the courtyard of the house of Rav (Avodah Zarah 1a). And it seems there is a textual error, for Rav Abba did not see Rav, as there was a long time after him (see there). And we find that Rav Chananel was a student of Rav. In Megillah (3a), Rabbi Ika bar Abin said (and in Nedarim this matter (37b) is attributed to Abaye, which is a textual error) that Rav Chananel said in the name of Rav.

And in Kidushin (72a), Rabbi Ika bar Abin said: Rabbi Chiya said in the name of Rav, and Abaye said: Do not listen to him, and he said: It is not mine, it is Rav Chananel's, and Abaye asked Rav Chananel. It seems that he is the earlier Abaye.]
