אדא בר אבימי

אדא בר אבימי

Entry 210 • Seder Tannaim v'Amoraim

Adah bar Abimi was before Rabbi Chanina bar Pappa. Some say Abba bar Abimi. During the time of Rav Nachman, one sage explained that he was known for studying Mishnas and forgetting and confusing them. [Eruvin (9:2) teaches that Rav Adah bar Abimi was before Rabbi Chanania, and some say it was before Rabbi Chanina bar Pappa (it seems it should be Pappi, as it is on page 12a). Refer to the new Shas for variant readings.

And in Beitzah (26b), Adah bar Uchmi was known for studying Mishnas and forgetting and confusing them during the time of Rav Nachman. In the Jerusalem Talmud, in the chapter of the seer, it is taught: Rabbi Tanchum said to Rabbi Adah bar Abimi, etc. Rabbi Chizkiyah said to Rav Adah bar Abimi, etc. He said to him in accordance with his teacher, they said: Rabbi Mana said to Rabbi Chizkiyah, who is his teacher (Rav Adah bar Abba), he said to him Rabbi Zeira.

And in the first chapter of Taanit, law 3, regarding that matter, Rav Adah bar Ichuma.]
