אבדן

Avedan is Abba Yudan [(Tosafot Yevamot (K"V b') and Avedan is a light expression)] a student of Rabbi. And he became afflicted with leprosy, and his two sons drowned because he spoke about Rabbi Yishmael son of Rabbi Yosi [(see there)] and he was a great sage and a pious man. And in the Piskei Berakhot of Perek Tefillat HaShachar in the name of the Yerushalmi [(Mishnah 1, Rabbi Mefaked to Avedon Amora)] it is stated that he was the translator of Rabbi. [He asked Rabbi how many qualities there are in holy things and terumah (Yerushalmi Perek 5 Berakhot).
