רב הונא בר נתן

רב הונא בר נתן

Entry 1016 • Seder Tannaim v'Amoraim

Rab Heuna bar Natan was pressed by the feet of Rav Ashi when another king was after Rav Ashi [(see there) and in Eruvin (2b) and Yoma (7:2) the son of Rav Natan]. And it was a burden for Rav Ashi [(see there) Rav Ashi said to me Heuna son of Natan, I asked about the writings of Rava in Bava Batra (55a). Amimar permitted him to marry from the region of Machoziah and heard from Rav Zvid of Nehardea about Kiddushin (2b)] he would stand before the king and adjust his belt for him [(he said to him Amimar)] it was fulfilled in you and kings were your craftsmen [Perek 2 of Zevachim (19a) and Rav Gavi from Argezah (see Marimer).

Rav Nachman said to me Heuna bar Natan in Ketubot (7:1)] Rav Nachman bar Yitzchak said to him what is your name? He said I am called by a name, Rashi explains that from his youth he was called the son of Rav Heuna, and Rabbeinu Chananel explained that they supported him and called him Rav Heuna. [See the novelties of Aggadah in Pesachim (86b) Rav Natan his father (see there) said to Rav Papa did the master not hold in Berachot (2a).

R. Heuna bar Natan said to Rav Papa in Pesachim (17b) Zevachim (41b, 45b) and see Menachot (15a). Rav said in Nedarim (12a). And it requires investigation after he spoke with Rav that Rav Ashi was born on the day of his death, and with Rav Nachman who was the teacher of Rava, and certainly he was great then that he said to R' Nachman some law and Rav Ashi lived at least according to the year (see there) and how is there a king after Rav Ashi, and perhaps he was a great elder therefore they pressed the feet of Rav Ashi.

Also in some places he is referred to as Rav Heuna bar Natan and in some as Rav Natan, and perhaps there were two and it requires investigation.]
