**Enoch** was taken by God in Year 987, 113 years after Lamech [(in Seder HaDorot 66 it is written 112 years after Noah, which is an error; see the introduction to the book Brit Shalom)], and 300 years after Methuselah. [Uriel was a son of Enoch and his appearance was like that of Adam HaRishon. He received the soul that had departed from Adam HaRishon (see Year 1058). In the Arizal's work (9), Enoch is Metatron.

The Chesed L'Avraham writes in Ma'ayan 5, Nahar 24, that Enoch took Adam HaRishon's soul, therefore he became an angel. Elijah took the secret of the spirit of the rescue of Adam HaRishon, and the soul of Adam was taken by Cain and Abel to rectify it. The portion of Cain was reincarnated in Cainan and Mahalalel until Nadab and Abihu, and Moses took the portion of Pinchas. This is what is meant by "defiled by the soul of Adam" literally.

Enoch was reincarnated three times: in Eliezer, Joseph, and Joshua, and so it is concluded].

**And it came to pass** when Enoch ascended to heaven, all the kings of the earth arose and anointed Methuselah and crowned him in place of his father. Methuselah did what was right in the eyes of HaShem according to all that Enoch his father had taught him, and he taught mankind wisdom, knowledge, and the fear of HaShem all his days.

However, at the end of his days, mankind departed from following HaShem and robbed and oppressed and rebelled against HaShem and corrupted their ways. HaShem was very angry and continued to destroy the seed, and there was no sowing or reaping. When they sowed, thorns and thistles grew that they had not planted. Despite all this, mankind did not desist from their evil ways and angered HaShem, and HaShem was angry and regretted that He had made man [(Sefer HaYashar)].
