Year 5340: There was a great earthquake and tremor in Rome, and the land shook and trembled for three days and three nights. Two houses of priests and towers and many houses fell, and many people died in the earthquake (Tzemach David, part 2).

Rabbi Avraham Peritzol ben Mordechai of Avignon who composed Orachot Olam (see year 1472), and composed Sefer Magen Avraham which is a debate on religion and discusses Jews who are beyond the mountains of Kush and Sambatyon and the Ishmaelite nations, manuscript, and a commentary on Iyov, see Siftei Yeshenim. It appears he lived in the year 5340, but I have seen it was printed in Ferrara in 5284.
