Rabbi Natan of Horodna, son of Rabbi Shimshon Shapira, was the perfect pious one. He wrote a commentary on Rashi [called Imrei Shefer, and in Tzemach David, Parshat Behaalotcha and Sefer Sheva beTamiah, he wrote these commentaries do not belong to the author of Imrei Shefer but rather one student attributed them to a great tree.] And on Rabbi Yehuda of Horodno [it is called Megun She'arim, and a commentary on Birkat HaMazon, and novellae on the Zohar, and some commentary on the Machzor.] He passed away in the year 5337, and left two sons: Rabbi Yitzchak who was head of the rabbinical court in the holy community of Kobla, and Rabbi Yissachar who was head of the court in Pinczow and in the holy community of Worms (Tzemach David), and he wrote there that Rabbi Shimshon mentioned above was his uncle.
