Rabbi Meir Katzenellenbogen of Padua, chief rabbi, was the great and pious rabbi who authored responsa and brought the Sefer HaMaimoni to print. He passed away in 5318. His son who filled his place was HaGaon Yehudah, chief rabbi of Venice [(Sha'arei Kedusha 64b)].
