In the year 5266, the people of Lisbon hated the Anusim (forced converts) and told the king that the cause of all the evils that befell the kingdom was because the Anusim did not keep their faith. Two brothers arose with a crucifix and cried out in the city, saying "Come, let us take vengeance for the Messiah," and they killed more than 4,000 Anusim with great cruelty, even throwing pregnant women from windows onto spears.
