**In the year** 4906 many kingdoms gathered to go up against the Ishmaelites and there were many troubles upon Israel. [(Tzeda LaDerech chapter 72 and Seder HaKabbalah chapter 119b)].

**Rabbi Shemaya** [(see year 4902)] it is seen in Mordechai chapter 2 of Bava Batra that he was a student of Rabbi Yosef Tov Elem. And in Mordechai chapter Kol HaBasar that he was the grandson of Rashi [(Seder HaKabbalah). It is written in Responsa Shin Alef section 5 that Rabbi Shemaya from Pfalz, one of the students of Rashi, is cited in Hagahot Maimoni.] The decree of the Shepherds was around this time, such as had never been, and they killed 140 communities.
