After the death of Rav Simona, the academies were nullified because of the hatred of the kings of Persia and their decrees [(see above 4263)] for about 50 years until 4348 [(see if you can reconcile the calculation)]. And Rav Sherira Gaon [(Yuchsin)] mentioned Rav Reva'i of Rov who was head of the academy after Rav Simona, but did not mention his years [(Tzemach David). See the responsum of Rashbag Yuchsin and read who were the Rabbanan Savoraei, and everything that was hanging without explanation, such as Rechumi and Ravah and Rav Yosef from Bei Chatim, the one who says in "One who brings a get from overseas" and Tzakla'i, about 26, and Bei Chatim is a city in the vicinity of Nehardea.

And Rav Reva'i of Rov explains in Sanhedrin (folio 42b) "The one who goes out to be executed is given a grain of frankincense in a cup of wine so that his mind becomes confused, etc." Rav Reva'i from Rov reasoned that it should be from public funds, because it says "give etc." (and in our Gemara it is not there). And also Rov, the city of Rav Reva'i, was in the vicinity of the academies of Nehardea.
