Rav Dimi reigned from the year 4140 for 2 years and died in 4142 [according to Rashbag, he died in 699 (and so it says in Sefer HaKeritot), which is the year 4147.] And in the same year Rav Zevid died [(see above 4132).] Caesar Valasos commanded to build the walls of Jerusalem and gave substantial help and expense, but he did not manage to complete it, for he died at age 54 on the day of bloodletting when all his blood flowed out, in the 12th year of his reign. This was in the days of Ravina and Rav Ashi [so it says in Yuchsin, section 5, time 7, see above year 4127.] In the year 4140 there was a great and terrible earthquake throughout almost the entire world and many cities fell, and that same year the sea rose up and flooded many cities, and countless people and animals and other possessions perished [(Tzemach David, part 2)].
