**And it came to pass** when he was seventy years old [(Year 395)] that he fathered three sons and two daughters. The name of the firstborn was Mahalalel, the second Inan, the third Mered, and their sisters were Adah and Zillah. And Lamech son of Methushelach married Cainan's wife, and he took his two daughters as wives. Adah conceived and bore to Lamech a son and she called his name Jabal, and she bore again and called his name Jubal.
Zillah her sister was barren, for in those days they transgressed the commandment that HaShem commanded Adam to be fruitful and multiply on the earth. They gave some of their wives a sterilizing potion so they would remain beautiful and not lose their beauty from pregnancy. The wives who bore children became despised in the eyes of their husbands like widowed animals, and the barren ones clung to them.
In Zillah's old age, HaShem opened her womb and she conceived and bore a son and called his name Tubal-Cain. She conceived again and bore a daughter and called her name Naamah, for she said, "After my disgrace I have had pleasure and delight." Lamech killed Cain and Tubal-Cain his son [(Rashi, Bereishit 4:19, 22). Zillah was Zilponi, the mother of Samson (see Year 2813 and 2830). Lamech was reincarnated in Elkanah, and Zillah was Hannah, and Adah was Peninah (see Year 2830) and in Saul (see Year 2882)].
