**Caius** Caesar of Rome [(see above year 3780)] reigned in year 3799, and he was wicked and cruel. He killed three of his brothers and many of the elders of Rome he put to death through thirst and gave them over to wild beasts. Many times he said, "Would that all the Roman people were one soul so I could fulfill my desire to kill them and uproot them all together in one moment." He commanded that people bow before him and before his image, and he sent the likeness of his image to Yerushalayim, and there were many troubles for the Yehudim [(Tzeda 72)].
