Habakkuk [(he was the son of the Shunamite woman, Zohar Beshalach, see Year 3042. And the Shunamite woman was the wife of Ovadiah the prophet, Zohar Lech Lecha)] lived at the end of seventy years of the Babylonian exile in the days of Daniel when he was thrown into the lion pit. He prophesied about Assyria and Persia and Media [see Year 3228. (Abarbanel at the beginning of Habakkuk in the name of Yuchsin)].

He received from Nachum HaElkoshi, being the 14th receiver, the 18th to the prophets [(Yuchsin in Seder HaDorot)]. Habakkuk was taken to eat with Daniel in the lion pit [(Shir HaShirim chapter 69 b), and similarly in Yosiphon that Habakkuk was in the generation of Daniel. And according to what it says in the Zohar that he was the son of the Shunamite woman, thus much time passed between them]. In the city of Yehokim is the grave of Habakkuk the prophet, and near his grave is his teacher Rabbi Bechaye and his students [(Benjamin of Tudela).

Habakkuk was a reincarnation of Adam HaRishon (Naach chapter on Haazinu)].
