2322AM

Year 2322 of the Jewish calendar.

1

And it came to pass in the eighty-fifth year after their descent to Egypt [this is year 2322], which was the fifth [it should be the fiftieth] year of the reign of Hadad son of Bedad, that Hadad gathered all the children of Esav, about four hundred thousand men, and went to fight against Moav. And Moav sent to Midian to help them, and they arrayed for battle in the field of Moav. And many of the children of Moav and Midian fell, thousands of men.

And the children of Moav saw that the battle was too strong for them, and their hands weakened, and they turned their backs and abandoned the children of Midian to fight. And the children of Midian did not know the thoughts of Moav, and they fought against Hadad. And all of Midian fell, and they were slain, leaving none remaining - all those who had come to help Moav. And Hadad made all of Moav into forced laborers, and they were under his hand.

And Hadad returned to his land. And it came to pass at the turn of the year, when the remainder of the children of Midian who were in the land heard that all their brothers had fallen because of Moav, for Moav had turned their backs in the war and abandoned Midian, the five princes of Midian took counsel and sent to all their brothers, all the children of Kedem. And all the children of Keturah came to help Midian fight against Moav.

And the children of Moav were greatly afraid, and they sent to the land of Edom, to Hadad son of Bedad: "Come to us and help us." And Hadad went out with all his army and struck all of Midian and the children of Kedem, and the survivors fled. And Hadad pursued after them to their land, and many fell as casualties. And Hadad returned to his land. And from that day onward, the children of Midian bore great hatred toward the children of Moav - whoever found his fellow would kill him.
