And Yosef died in the seventieth year of the descent of Israel to Egypt [this is year 2309]. (And in Sheder HaKabbalah 69:2 it is written that from when the world was created until Yosef died was two thousand and two years, which is a typographical error.) Yosef died at rest on Shabbat [Zohar, Parshat Terumah]. And they placed Yosef in a coffin filled with spices and all the work of the perfumer, and they buried him on the bank of the Nile, that is Shichor.

And all of Egypt began to rule over the children of Israel.
