**Reuven** was born in Year 2193 (in the Midrash, section 270, Shemot, it states he was born on the 14th of Kislev and lived 125 years. The Zohar writes this is an error, for according to this he lived longer than Levi, yet our Sages said that Levi died after all the tribes. It is concluded. But he did not see that in Seder Olam Zuta and Seder HaDorot they wrote that he lived 125 years.

The Bachya on Shemot, in the name of Midrash Tadshe, writes that he lived 125 years, and similarly in Sefer HaYashar, Parashat Shemot, Reuven died 79 years after their descent to Egypt at 125 years old.

Thus Reuven died in Year 2317 and was born according to this in Year 2192. And so it is in Midrash Seder Olam Zuta that Reuven was born 85 years after Yaakov, and Yaakov was born in Year 2108, so Reuven was born in Year 2193.

However, Rabbeinu Avraham Ibn Ezra, Parashat Shemot, writes that he was born 85 years after Yaakov, so he was born in Year 2193). Seder Olam Zuta and Seder HaDorot write that Reuven died two years after Yosef. This is not accurate, for Reuven was born in Year 2192 or 2193 and lived 125 years, so he died in Year 2317 or 2318, and Yosef died in Year 2309, so he died 8 or 9 years after Yosef.

**It is written** [in the Maggid Shemot, Reuven was Chesed. The Bachya, Parashat Vayetzei, writes that Reuven derives from the word "seeing," and seeing is from the power of the letter Heh, which is the attribute of Judgment].

**Odem** [is called "rovin" (ruby) given to Reuven. Until here it is language referring to a play on words.

Afterwards I found in HaGadol in Sefer Shorashim, the 10th chapter, "therefore the odem, which is rovin, was given to Reuven, for rovin and Reuven are close in language." Thus it is concluded. And...
